Elevating Queer Voices on Stage

The Queer Ensemble is a Theatre Company and collective of artists that have come together to present works centering the queer perspective from playwrights past and present, queer and non, in a series of live performances. We pride ourselves on the fresh, bold, and intelligent takes of the work we present, infusing the vast experiences of our ensemble with a sharp, visionary guest director at the helm of each play's journey.

Our hope is to craft an environment for the queer community to safely create and digest art, while challenging the current artistic plane with a never before seen point of view.

All are welcome to experience the beauty of us.

Our Founders

Patrick Reilly and Tucker Aust

We are the co-founders of The Queer Ensemble, and are committed to leading a family of artists determined to queer things up. We both graduated from the BFA Acting Program at the University of Southern California, and have been working hard to find our place in the industry ever since.

As two non-passing actors we know firsthand how the institution of Theatre has a limited view of what we can do. Queer people are seen as a monolith. Always the narrator, the friend, the camp relief. Our desire for understanding – to get out from under the Will-and-Gracification of queer people – led to the creation of The Queer Ensemble.

From regional productions, workshops, and Off-Broadway performances, to a variety of web series, readings, and select work featured on streaming services, we have both garnered a wide range of experience. All while remaining steadfastly ourselves. And yet, we believe there remains a gap in the theatrical landscape – for unabashed, messy, rebellious, and celebratory queerness.

New Work. Revisited Work. Reimagined Work.

We exist to infuse the theatrical culture with Queer theory, beliefs, emotion, perspective and action. We create performances where queerness is seen on stage and valued in every aspect from the classics to new works. It's giving, Steppenwolf meets Warhol's The Factory.
